Course Description
1 in 6 people report experiencing a common mental health issue (like anxiety and depression) in any given week in England. This course has been specifically designed to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of common mental health issues in the workplace and how best to offer support and guidance. This course is aimed at anyone wanting to gain a deeper understanding of mental health issues; be able to help build a positive mental health culture; be a point of contact for positive mental health in your workplace and gain an understanding of the effects of drugs and alcohol on mental health.

- Factors that impact mental health
- The role of first aider for mental health
- Advice that should be provided to a person suffering from a suspected mental health condition
- When to contact the emergency services in respect of first aid for mental health
- Signs of stress and how stress can be managed
- Signs and symptoms of depression, anxiety, psychosis, eating disorders, suicide, self-harm
- Effects of alcohol and drug abuse on a person’s mental health
- The application of the first aid action plan for mental health
- How to implement it a positive mental health culture in the workplace
